Life 有终身与生命二义，而 Study 有学习与学问二义；将 Life 与 Study 之二义合一，Life Study 就有“终身学习生命学问”之义了。因此 Life Study Blog 的内容是关于“终身学习”与“生命学问”两方面；“终身学习”指出学习的过程是没有止境的历程，而“生命学问”则标明学习的内容是有关生命的学问。时间上“终身学习”没有设定期限，而空间上“生命学问”涵盖各种课题。如此定位保留了弹性，让我能够随意遨游于“古今中外”的时空中。
除了这些变化以外，我还在继续管理创新合肥分公司，几乎每个月都飞去合肥。我开始启动合肥本地化管理的步骤，成立管理委员会，赋予本地主管的财务权限，还成立了管理学习组。这一年来，我和合肥主管共同研读了一些管理学书籍，包括德鲁克（Peter Drucker）的经典《管理的实践》（The Practice of Management）和《卓有成效的管理者》（The Effective Executive），还分享了易经管理学之乾坤二卦，大家都觉得很有启发，获益匪浅。
Pencil: I’m sorry because you get hurt because of me. Whenever I made a mistake, you’re always there to erase it. But as you make my mistakes vanish, you lose a part of yourself. You get smaller and smaller each time.
Eraser: That’s true. But I don’t really mind. You see, I was made to do this. I was made to help you whenever you do something wrong. Even though one day, I know I’ll be gone and you’ll replace me with a new one, I’m actually happy with my job. So please, stop worrying. I hate seeing you sad.
I found this conversation between the pencil and the eraser very inspirational. Parents are like the eraser whereas their children are the pencil. They’re always there for their children, cleaning up their mistakes. Sometimes along the way, they get hurt, and become smaller / older, and eventually pass on. Though their children will eventually find someone new (spouse), but parents are still happy with what they do for their children, and will always hate seeing their precious ones worrying, or sad.
All my life, I’ve been the pencil. And it pains me to see the eraser that is my parents getting smaller and smaller each day. For I know that one day, all that I’m left with would be eraser shavings and memories of what I used to have.
